Lawrence Healthcare offers the Swing Bed program as an alternative to discharge from an acute care bed. The facility does not house these "beds" in separate facilities but listens in the same room used for their hospitalization.
Length of stay is determined by your needs. When your skilled needs have been met, you will be ready for discharge. During your visit, the discharge planner and case management team, along with you and your physician will be involved in making recommendations. Then, if you need help in arranging continued care, we will help you make arrangements, if you like.
Lawrence Memorial Hospital is licensed as a Critical Access Hospital and staff the maximum 25 beds. All of the patient rooms are private.
A physician may order a patient to be put on observation status. Observation status is a time of testing or monitoring a patient and their medical need.
Lawrence Memorial Hospital offers an in-house pharmacy for all prescription needs throughout the facility including Lawrence Hall Health and Rehabilitation.
Chaplaincy services are provided for your pastoral and spiritual needs during your hospitalization. Allow your faith to provide strength and comfort and to enrich your healing process. Chaplaincy services can be arranged at any time.
Outpatient Services are any of those services that do not require the patient to be checked into the hospital for long durations of time. Lawrence Memorial offers many of these services including: Cardiopulmonary, Emergency Care, Laboratory, Radiology, Emergency Care, Specialty, Rehab Services and Sleep Study.

Arrival: Lawrence Memorial Hospital's Emergency Department is staffed with licensed personnel and a physician 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Our goal is to be your first choice for emergency healthcare.
Triage: Your medical condition will be assessed, and your medical record is initiated shortly after arrival. The triage nurse will record your vital signs (blood pressure, pulse, respirations, and temperature), height and also weigh you upon their orders. Brief history of your current and past medical problems will be obtained at that time.
Registration: The clerk will ask for your up-to-date information either at the desk next to the triage area or at the bedside. You will then be taken to an exam room or waiting area until a room is available, based on the severity of your case.
Assessment: The nurse will obtain more detailed information from you and build upon the assessment that was started in the triage area.
Physical Screening Examination: A physician will perform an examination based on your emergency and provide the appropriate treatment based on his findings. This may include blood analysis, X-ray, EKG, or other diagnostic tests, medications, and/or transfer as needed.

You do not need an appointment to receive convenient, personal care. Since nearly all our tests are analyzed in our lab, your results can usually be sent back to your doctor within hours. Our Radiology Department is equipped to meet your x-ray needs. We provide superior images and high quality results so your physician can have a clear picture of what's going on inside your body and detect problems in their earliest stages, which can often mean a cure.
Our services are available 24 hours a day for emergencies, and by appointment for any other time. With prompt and dependable service, we perform a variety of therapeutic and diagnostic imaging procedures. Your results can be faxed directly to your physician.

Lawrence Memorial Hospital's Rehab Services offers physical, speech and occupational therapy. Physical therapy deals with rehabilitating physical dysfunctions, speech therapy deals with speech disorders, and occupational therapy uses a productive or creative activity to treat or rehabilitate physically or emotionally disabled people. Lawrence Healthcare Rehab services specializes in hand injuries and conditions for people of all ages. We are looking forward to meeting you. When you arrive at Lawrence Healthcare Rehab Services, the physical therapist will give you a health assessment based on your history and physical examination. You'll have to give a short history about your injury, medical history, medications, and physician's orders. You may perform an evaluation for your therapy program so the medical team can evaluate the severity of injuries and direct you with the most effective treatment for you.

Lawrence Memorial Hospital also offers sleep studies to our patients. Sleep studies help doctors diagnose sleep disorders such as sleep apnea, periodic limb movement disorder, narcolepsy, restless leg syndrome, insomnia, and nighttime behaviors like sleepwalking and REM sleep behavior disorder.
A sleep study is a non-invasive, overnight exam that allows doctors to monitor you while you sleep to see what's happening in your brain and body. For this test, you will go to a sleep lab that is set up for overnight stays which is usually in a hospital. While you sleep, an EEG monitors your sleep stages and the cycles of REM and NREM (deep sleep or restful sleep) to identify if or when your sleep patterns are disrupted and why. A sleep study will also measure things like eye movements, oxygen levels in your blood, heart rate and breathing, as well as body movements.
The Family Medical Center is a designated rural health clinic owned and operated by Lawrence Healthcare. As a designated rural health clinic, health care is provided to persons in an underserved area and is required to have an advanced practice nurse on hand seeing patients 50% of the time the clinic is open. Providers offer specialty care including pediatrics, family medicine, internal medicine and diabetic care, to name a few.
Internal medicine specialist, Dr. Paul Velizco, is our clinic medical director. Dr. Velizco, Dr. Kevin Diamond, Dr. Samantha Hatfield, Dr. Leisa Spence, Sandra Howard APRN and Sara Woodson APRN provide medical care for the clinic.
We accept all major insurance as well as Medicare and Medicaid. A sliding fee schedule is also available. The clinic is open Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Walk in sick call is available between 8:00-9:00 daily.
